Good Samaritan Rescue Mission began in 1953 as a house church with just eight beds and a soup kitchen. Today we are the largest shelter for the homeless in this region of the state.
We choose to receive no federal, state, or local government funds because we do not want a person coming in from the street to have to qualify for a particular program in order to get a bed.
By refusing these funds, we are able to offer our services to every single person coming through our doors. We operate solely on monetary and material donations from churches, businesses, privates citizens, and foundation gifts.
